Apex Fall Focus Kickoff Videos: Discipleship Bonus Material!
The weekend of September 18th/19th, we kicked off Fall Focus 2010. Fall Focus is a time of reflecting on what God has done within Apex and what He is doing… including both challenges and victories.
Apex elder Chris Cardiff put on his Tressel vest to give a humorous introduction to our very serious mission: being and making disciples of Christ. The first video below is that video shown in the 18th/19th Apex weekend gatherings. The following three videos include extremely valuable additional teaching from our elders about what it means to be a fully devoted disciple of Jesus… knowing, loving, and obeying Him through the power of the Holy Spirit.
For more expanded teaching on knowing, loving, and obeying Jesus, check out this resource in our online library.

The Apex City is Rockin’
If you’ve been in the Apex gatherings over the past month or two, you’ve heard about The City, an exciting new online tool and community network for Apex. We have been slowly rolling out The City over the course of May and June, and we have a great start. There are around 350 Apexers now online and 30 of our house churches represented.
To create your account on The City, at this time, you need to be invited via email by your house church. That is why we have been encouraging HC shepherds, co-shepherds, ministry team leaders, and anyone serving in another role within Apex to attend a City Training. At the very least, we would like one person from each HC to be trained on The City
Apex White Papers
Our Elders posted their first “white paper” today in the online resource library. This paper is likely the first of several. Topics for other papers are currently being considered. In the coming months and years, those other papers will be published on the Apex website.
A brief explanation of White Papers:
The overall purpose of these white papers is to present in a concise manner the position of the elders of Apex Community on a variety of theological and social issues. These positions will be the stance that will apply to those members of Apex Community that are in leadership positions. The issues that are addressed in white papers will be those that arise within our network of community churches. These are issues that our core doctrinal statement may not address explicitly but are still damaging to Christ
Understanding Apex: What about Apex’s history and background?
Apex leadership often gets questions about our history. Is Apex a church plant? How did you get started? How long have you been around? This video is an attempt to provide a brief answer to those questions. Obviously, summarizing around 10 years of ministry into less than 10 minutes is no easy task… let alone providing background before those 10 years! But we believe this video will provide you a general understanding of what God has done in the life of Apex to date. Enjoy!

Understanding Apex: How Does Leadership Work in the Apex Network?
Since our initial planting as a church, Apex has seen our leadership and oversight evolve alongside our ever-morphing ministry. While the Lord has blessed us with godly people to shepherd our local Body for years, the need for more clarity in our oversight structure as we continue to grow has become apparent to our elders. Near the end of 2009, final approval was given for a new leadership policy. Though some of the policy has yet to be realized (HC shepherd covenants, for example), it does provide a framework from which we hope to move forward.
Below is a link to that document in our online resource library. We strongly encourage all Apexers, especially those who have assumed any sort of leadership role, to watch the above video prior to reading the document. It provides a basic overview of the document. If you want to further examine the details of the policy, feel free to visit the link below, and do not hesitate to contact Apex leadership if you have further questions at that point.
“And God placed all things under [Jesus'] feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.”

What are Teenagers Asking about God?
A peak into Apex’s Student Ministry… Jason Wing asks Chad Osborne, one of Apex’s student ministry directors, an impromptu question about the questions that teenagers are asking about God. Both serious and funny.
2009 House 2 House Conference

House 2 House Conference
This weekend, a handful of Apex elders and staff are in Dallas at the 2009 House 2 House Conference. We are enjoying a sweet time of sharing with other brothers and sisters who are part of the house church movement in America and overseas.
Please be in prayer for us that our time is fruitful. We hope to build more relationships with those in the house church movement… as well as share what God is doing within Apex in Dayton.
If you’d like to learn more about the conference, visit the house 2 house website.
Or, you can see much of the conference streamed live on livestream when it is in session! Not sure how much they are able to show, but feel free to check it out.
